UPDATE: West Fair Ave. in Marquette closed due to meth bust

UPDATE: FRIDAY, MARCH 16, 2018 8:29PM

On Friday, detectives assigned to the Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team (UPSET) received information about meth components and firearms in a residence on Fair Avenue in the City of Marquette.  Detective from UPSET executed a search warrant at the residence and arrested a 38 year old male and 27 year old male for charges related to manufacturing meth.

Detectives seized an overwhelming amount of meth components, finished meth product, and two firearms at the residence.

Due to the vast amount of hazardous materials located in the residence, a portion of Fair Avenue was blocked for safety reasons. Police redirected traffic on Fair Avenue between Woodland Avenue and Woodridge Avenue for approximately 5 hours while these hazardous materials were removed from the residence.

Marquette City Police, Marquette City Fire Department, Marquette County Rescue, Marquette County Sheriff’s Department and Marquette Department of Public Works personnel all assisted at the scene.

Both suspects were lodged at the Marquette County Jail.  The names of the individuals arrested are being withheld pending arraignment.  The investigation is ongoing and no further details are being released at this time.


MARQUETTE — On Friday afternoon, police blocked off West Fair Avenue in Marquette for a possible meth bust at 1831 West Fair.

Fair Avenue has been blocked off at the corner of Woodland Avenue.  At this time, two people have been arrested according to UPSET. On the scene, UPSET is being assisted by Marquette County Sheriff, Marquette City Police, and Marquette City Fire.
