Jury trial set for woman charged with infant drowning death
GLADSTONE — A jury trial has been set for a 29 year-old charged with the drowning death of her 15-month child.
Michaela Maupin of Gladstone has been charged with second-degree murder a and second degree child abuse. A 7-day jury trial is scheduled in Delta County District Court for October 9th-October 17th.
The charges stem from an incident in October 2017, where the child drowned after being unsupervised for an unreasonable amount of time in a bathtub with running water. On the scene, officers performed CPR on the child. The child was then transported to OSF St. Francis Emergency Room, where they were pronounced dead.
Maupin’s other children were removed from the home after the incident and she was arrested by Gladstone Public Safety.
