MARQUETTE — Green eggs and ham were not hard to find tonight at the Peter White Public Library, as a birthday party celebration was held for the world famous Dr. Seuss.

Seussical themed crafts, like creating the Cat in the Hat’s headwear, and exciting games, such as a scavenger hunt, kept everyone young and young at heart entertained. Of course, a Seuss birthday party is nothing without cake, and a “green mix” drink.

The day is also dedicated to encouraging children to explore the captivating pages of books, and let their imaginations run wild.

“So today’s Dr. Seuss’ birthday – everybody knows Dr. Seuss whether they read Dr. Seuss or not,” said Peter White Public library Youth Services Director, Sarah Rehborg. “This is the month to encourage reading – I mean we encourage reading every month, but this is really the month to kick it into high gear.”

The library says they’ve held Dr. Seuss events in the past, but they say they hope to continue with a bigger party every year.
