Man arrested following domestic disturbance in Gogebic County

MARENISCO TOWNSHIP — A Gogebic County man was arrested following a domestic disturbance incident on Tuesday.

At approximately 10:10 p.m. on February 27th, Gogebic County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a 911 report of a domestic disturbance in Marenisco Township. Initial reports stated that the suspect was in possession of a firearm and was using a chainsaw to cut tree to impede egress to and from a residence.

The victim was able to safely flee from the residence just prior to the officer’s arrival. Responding officers were able to establish communication with the suspect and after a short time, he surrendered without incident.

The 37 year-old suspect of Marenisco Township is currently lodged in the Gogebic County Jail on a $25,000 cash bond on charges of domestic assault and possession of firearms while intoxicated. His name is not being released pending arraignment.

Assisting in the arrest were the Michigan State Police, Marenisco Township Police and the L.V.D. Tribal Police.
