Snowmobile driver sustains non-life threatening injuries after going airborne over ravine

SANDS TOWNSHIP — One man sustained non-life threatening injuries after going airborne over a ravine on his snowmobile on Wednesday.

Deputies from the Marquette County Sheriff’s Officer were dispatched to a single-snowmobile personal injury accident in Sands Township just before 12:30 p.m. Forty-seven year-old Jeremy Carl Beerman of Marquette was traveling east on the power lines west of Trail 8 when he unexpectedly came upon a ravine near the railroad grade.

Beerman went airborne for approximately 60 feet before landing on the other side of the ravine. He was still on the snowmobile when it impacted the ground, injuring his back.

He was transported to UPHS – Marquette for the treatment of non-life threatening injuries. Investigators determined that alcohol was not a factor in the crash.

Sands Township Fire Department, Sands Township EMS and UPHS – Marquette EMS assisted the troopers on the scene.
