Three vehicles involved in rollover accident

SANDS TOWNSHIP — The Marquette County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the report of a three vehicle PI crash that occurred on M-553 between the ski hill and Glasses curve in the northbound lane at 5:30pm. It was reported that one vehicle had rolled over.

A white 2002 GMC pickup truck driven by 20-year-old Taylor Johnson of Gwinn, was southbound on M-553 when she lost control on the icy road due to speed factors. She crossed into oncoming northbound traffic, and struck a 2009 Cadillac Escalade driven by 32-year-old Christopher Nelson of Marquette.

As a result, the Escalade went off the roadway and overturned. A third vehicle, a northbound 2014 Dodge Ram pickup, driven by 48-year-old Scott Lamora of Marquette, was unable to avoid the collision, and struck the white GMC pickup. The GMC pickup and Cadillac Escalade were totaled. The Ram pickup only sustained minor damage.

Johnson and one of the child passengers in the Escalade were transported to UPHS – Marquette for further evaluation of non-life threatening injuries.
