Manistique Public Safety performs felony drug arrests in ongoing investigation

MANISTIQUE — During the evening of Thursday, February 8th, Manistique Public Safety Officers, in conjunction with Schoolcraft County Sheriff Deputies and Agents from the 93rd District Court served felony drug arrest warrants on four people living in Manistique.

The arrests were part of a six-month long, ongoing investigation pertaining to the trafficking, sale and illegal use of narcotics in the City of Manistique and Schoolcraft County. It should also be noted that investigators were assisted by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services with the removal and safekeeping of a child from the home of an arrested person.

Officers arrest 30 year-old Katy Marie McGinnis and she was charged with two counts of delivering or manufacturing a controlled substance, Suboxone, each a 7-year felony and/or a $10,000 fine, and habitual offender-second offense. McGinnis was lodged in the Schoolcraft County Jail and bond was set at $250,000 cash or surety.

Authorities also arrested 43 year-old Shane David Henry. He was charged with delivering or manufacturing a controlled substance, Suboxone, a 7-year felony and/or a $10,000 fine, and habitual offender-fourth offense. Henry was lodged in the Schoolcraft County Jail and bond was set at $500,000 cash or surety.

Officers then arrested 47 year-old Daniel Joe Baker was charged with delivering or manufacturing less than 50 grams of a mixture containing a controlled subtance, vicodin, a 20-year felony and/or $25,000 fine,  and delivering or manufacturing a controlled substance, Suboxone, a 7-year felony and/or $10,000 fine. He was also charged as a habitual offender-third offense. Baker was lodged in the Schoolcraft County Jail and bond was set at $500,000 cash or surety.

Twenty-seven year-old Dimitri Mishko was also arrested. Mishko was charged with delivering or manufacturing a controlled substance, Suboxone, each a 7-year felony and/or a $10,000 fine. He was lodged in the Schoolcraft County Jail and bond was set at $250,000 cash or surety.

During the course of the investigation, officers also arrested 26 year-old Angie Jean Gwaltney (not pictured) for delivery of methamphetamine on November 21st, 2017, after a buy/bust operation conducted by Public Safety and the Sheriff’s Department in the City of Manistique. Gwaltney remains lodged in the Schoolcraft County Jail and awaits further proceedings in Circuit Court.

McGinnis, Henry, Baker and Mishko were arraigned on Friday in 93rd District Court where all arrested bonds were continued as previously stated. The four were remanded back into the custody of the Sheriff’s Department.

They are all scheduled to appear in court on February 28th for preliminary examination proceedings.
