NEGAUNEE — Some may prefer the Puppy Bowl over the Super Bowl. UPAWS is having their own rendition of the big game.

The Upper Peninsula Animal Welfare Shelter is having their own Kitten Bowl, taking part in a big nationwide event. It’s bound to be a pretty special one.

“The Hallmark Channel is having a Kitten Bowl, and hundreds of shelters across the country are having a party. So our party will also include an adoption event,” said UPAWS Community Outreach Coordinator Ann Brownell.

Over 30 cats will be available for adoption. Cats under six months are $89 and all others are free.

“That includes their spay and neuter, vaccination, microchip, and a bunch of love. So score big,” said Brownell.
