Houghton and L’Anse Secretary of State offices to close for parts of next week
HOUGHTON AND L’ANSE — Secretary of State offices in L’Anse and Houghton will be closed for a remodeling project for parts of next week.
The L’Anse office (located at 115 N. Front Street) will be closed on Monday, January 22nd and Tuesday, January 23rd. Normal service will resume on Wednesday, January 24th beginning at 11:00 a.m.
The Houghton office (located at 902 Razorback Drive) will be closed on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, January 22nd-24th. Normal service will resume on Thursday, January 25th.
The renovations include new data lines to speed transactions and an improved counter configuration.
“The features that this remodeling project will bring are part of our commitment to continuously improving and providing convenient customer service while being efficient with taxpayer dollars,” Johnson said in a statement. “Area residents now can do many transactions with us by hopping online at ExpressSOS.com but when they do need to visit, they can enjoy the benefits of updated offices in L’Anse and Houghton.”
Residents who need Secretary of State services during the remodeling period may visit the next closest offices. The Mohawk branch (located on 3616 U.S. Highway 41) which is normally open only on Thursday during the winter, will be open Monday, January 22nd through Thursday, January 25th. This branch will be open Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with a lunch closure from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. On Wednesday, the Mohawk branch will be open from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a lunch closure from 2:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
The Ontonagon office (located at 728 S. 7th Street) is open Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with a lunch closure from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. and Wednesdays from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a lunch closure from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
