Two suspects arrested after three-month UPSET investigation

HOUGHTON — After a three-month investigation, UPSET detectives identified one of the primary suspects involved in the two recent meth labs seized in Houghton County. The detectives executed a search warrant on a residence on Spruce Lane in Houghton on January 8th and recovered numerous components used in the manufacture of methamphetamine.

Two suspects were arrested in connection with the investigation. The first suspect, a 35 year-old male from Houghton, was arrested on a four-count felony warrant. The charges include delivery/manufacture of methamphetamine, operating a meth lab, soliciting another to obtain pseudoephedrine and possessing/purchasing pseudoephedrine to make meth.

A second suspect, a 29 year-old male from Hancock, was arrested at the residence for possession of methamphetamine. Both suspects are lodged at the Houghton County Jail.

The investigation is ongoing and additional charges are pending review by the Houghton County Prosecutor’s Office. The Houghton City Police Department, Houghton County Sheriff’s Office, Michigan State Police and Houghton City Fire Department assisted UPSET.
