MARQUETTE — Sometimes your new year’s resolution to get back into shape doesn’t work out. It’s hard to get back into a routine, or maybe you just don’t know where to start. A local gym is looking to make things easier for hopeful gym rats.

Synergy Fitness in Marquette is helping people be more prepared to follow through on their New Year’s resolution to get back or stay in shape with an open house this Saturday. The free event will include different ways to set fitness goals and accomplish them.

“At Synergy we want to get people in the door to see how not intimidating of a gym we are,” said personal trainer Sloan Dorr. “With all of these New Year’s resolutions we want to help you make a plan, stick to it, and complete that goal.”

The event will have many different elements, including presentations from trainers, nutrition information and massages. Synergy is collaborating with a number of other businesses.

“Queen City Running Company is coming in to give shoe guidance because footwear is super important for any physical wellness goals. Active Physical Therapy is right downstairs, they’re going to be doing injury screenings along with our certified athletic trainers,” said Dorr.

The event runs from 10:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m. on Saturday, and will include giveaways and a chance to win a free year of group training.
