MARQUETTE — As we inch closer to December, we should be expecting to get some permanent snow. That’ll be a cause for celebration. When that happens, you might find yourself skiing at a special mountain down the road.

That’s another cause for celebration.

Marquette Mountain will be celebrating their sixtieth season this winter. Established in 1958 as Cliffs Ridge, the mountain has been a staple of family fun for the better part of a century.

“It’s really a family atmosphere here, and being able to be part of the last 60 years is really an exciting and fun thing,” said general manager Jesie Melchiori.

The springtime will mark the big milestone, and workers at the mountain have some plans for celebrating.

“Our spring carnival will really be the celebration that weekend, which is in March,” said Melchiori.

So for now, keep your skis waxed and your fingers crossed for some snow in the near future, so you can join the celebration. You can check out their website for more details on the celebration.
