ISHPEMING — It’s the season of giving, and many local organizations are giving the community a chance to enjoy a Thanksgiving meal with them.

The Salvation Army in Ishpeming hosted a Community Thanksgiving Lunch on Monday from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Anyone was welcome to come and enjoy lunch, complete with turkey and a variety of side dishes.

Although meals like this are put on for the community, they would not happen without the support of the community itself.

“We have an amazing group of volunteers who have given hours to come and they’ve been cooking turkeys for days and been making sides,” said Karen Cassidy, a ministerial intern with the Salvation Army. “The community has donated all the turkey and all the fixings. We’re just really grateful for all the volunteers.”

If you missed this lunch, don’t worry: there’s another opportunity to have Thanksgiving with the Salvation Army on Wednesday at the Marquette location beginning at noon.
