BESSEMER TOWNSHIP — Two Bessemer residents were stuck waist deep in a swamp over the weekend.

The Gogebic County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the swamp in Bessemer Township Saturday evening. The father and son were tracking a deer, went into the swamp, got stuck and were unable to move.

The pair was rescued from the swamp and freezing water with assistance of Gogebic Search and Rescue, Bessemer Township Fire Department and Beacon Ambulance. The individuals were transported to Aspirus Ironwood Hospital for medical attention.
