ISHPEMING — An Ishpeming man is home safe after he found himself lost in the woods on Friday. Deputies and Search and Rescue volunteers from the Marquette County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to Al Quaal Park in Ishpeming for a lost hiker around 8:00 p.m. on October 20th.

Sixty-three year-old Daniel Filbrandt of Ishpeming went for a hike around 2:30 p.m. on that day. After hiking for awhile, Filbrandt got lost and ended up in a swampy area north of Deer Lake.

When it became dark and Filbrandt noticed he did not have a flashlight with him, he called 911. Authorities were able to locate him using the coordinates from the call.

He was brought back to the parking lot and was turned over to his family. No medical attention was required.
