Powerlines down after semi-accident
MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP — US-41 is cleared up after an accident involving a semi–truck and some powerlines.
Deputies from the Marquette County sheriff’s department and Michigan State Police Negaunee Post were dispatched to US-41 by Northwood road around 1:30 PM.
Pierre Crawford from Belleville Illinois had just finished a delivery for Schneider Trucking. After turning the wrong way, he attempted to turn around in a parking lot when a low-lying telephone wire caught the front of his trailer. As a result, two power poles snapped and telephone wire was dragged across the road. Blocking all but one lane heading west.
Also assisting on the scene were Motor Carriers from the MSP, Marquette City Police, Marquette Township Fire Department, Marquette County Road Commission, and the Marquette Board of Light and Power.
No injuries were reported.
