It’s not often that a homegrown icon returns…but it looks like Sunday might be the day.  Marquette blues artist George Friend will be returning to his hometown to perform Sunday with his wife’s band, Laura Rain and the Caesars.

They’ll be debuting their new album, “Walk With Me.”

“A lot of people remember him from the music scene several years ago. He’s been out touring the world and making music with people and he’s been doing it with this band now for about 5, 6 years, and they’re starting to get a real good following, and we’re excited to bring them to Marquette,” said Walt Lindala of the Marquette Area Blues Society.

Though George and Linda are known for Blues, you might see the Detroit duo’s set list with some Motown motivation.

“If you talk to them, they’ve taken all of their Detroit influences with the Motown and all of that, and they’ve put it together to create their own unique sound that holds onto the tradition of blues but takes it to that next level with new influences,” said Lindala.

The event will be held in the red room at the Masonic center in Marquette. Tickets are sold on site. The event starts at seven, with music at eight.
