Support offered to Ishpeming students in wake of death

ISHPEMING — The Ishpeming Public School District is sending heartfelt condolences after announcing the death of one of their high school students.

According to the press release, a support team of psychologists, counselors and pupil personnel workers from Ishpeming, as well as the surrounding school districts, are working with Ishpeming Public School staff to provide counseling and support for the students. Students that need additional support should contact their school counselor.

Children may be coming home with questions and worries about the loss. If parents have any questions, they should contact a school counselor.

Director of Business Services Anthony Bertucci released a statement saying “We have no other information at this time and would appreciate your cooperation and understanding at this time.  We appreciate you allowing us the time and opportunity to address this sensitive matter.”

The district has cancelled all of tonight’s scheduled athletic contests.
