HANCOCK — Police in Houghton County were able to locate a missing juvenile after five and a half hours of searching Monday afternoon.

The Houghton County Sheriff’s Department responded to the area of Waasa Road and M-203 in Hancock Township just after 3:00 p.m. on the report of a missing endangered juvenile. The teenager was believed to be in the woods in the surrounding area.

The sheriff’s office along with help from the Keweenaw County K9 unit, searched the area for several hours. Police located the teen at 8:30 in a friend’s vehicle on Waasa Road.

Troopers from the Michigan State Police assisted the sheriff’s office in the search.
