Heavier traffic through Marquette construction expected

MARQUETTE — Traffic disruptions in Marquette are about to get worse as stage three of the Marquette Hospital Transportation Improvement Project gets ready to begin.

Starting Friday at 7am, the two existing eastbound traffic lanes on US-41 will be closed and traffic will be diverted to one west and one east bound lane. In addition, Seventh Street will be closed to through traffic off US-41 and the Grove Street intersection will also be closed.A temporary roadway has been constructed off Homestead Street to give access to Grove. A temporary traffic signal will be set up for that roadway to allow cross traffic to enter US-41.

This phase is expected to last four weeks and the public is being advised to use caution when traveling through the area and allow for extra commuting time.
