Man arrested after hitting a parked car & fleeing from police

MARQUETTE — A Marquette man is behind bars after police say he hit a vehicle and led officers on a brief chase.

According to the Marquette Police Department, officers were dispatched to a car accident on the 100 Block of W. Michigan Street Wednesday around 11:30 p.m. A motorist, identified as John Clyde Dartt, 19, hit a parked car.

As police arrived on scene, Dartt took off at a high rate of speed through East Marquette. Dartt lost control of his vehicle, going through a yard and eventually hitting a trailer on the roadside before coming to a stop.

Dartt was arrested for Hit and Run, Fleeing and Eluding Police and Operating While Under the Influence. He was lodged at the Marquette County Jail with charges pending.
