Structure a total loss after early morning fire

ESCANABA — A structure has been deemed a total loss after a fire early Sunday morning.

Escanaba Public Safety was dispatched to 2905 8th Avenue South just after 2:15 a.m. on the report of a large structure fire. When firefighters arrived on scene, a barn was fully engulfed in flames.

Shortly after firefighters began battling the blaze, the barn collapsed. Firefighters spent 2.5 hours on scene dealing with the fire.

The structure and all of its contents were lost in the fire. No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire was not released.
