Police Department warning residents of phone scam

CHOCOLAY TOWNSHIP — The Chocolay Township Police Department is warning citizens about a phone scam that’s impacted the area over the last month.

The department has received complaints about phone scam calls that include the Upper Peninsula’s area code, 906. Scammers have offered callers trips to Disney, other trips, cruises and lottery winnings.

The police department is reminding residents to never give personal information, especially social security numbers and banking information over the phone.
