ISHPEMING — The Marquette County Medical Care Facility held their annual Family Fun Day Wednesday afternoon to celebrate residents, workers, and the community.
This event has been going on over 20 years and continues to grow each time. Upwards of 200 people showed up this year to enjoy the day’s activities which included a bounce house, games, face painting, vintage cars, and food. Earthly Treasures was also at the event, offering discounts to residents.
The fun day took place from 1:30 P.M to 3:30 P.M Wednesday afternoon. MCMCF held a blood drive before the event as well as a barbecue for all the residents.
“It’s kind of a thank you day and it’s also a let’s enjoy summer together day. A day that we can show off our facility and let people come in. And that we’re a home here. That people should be coming in and visiting their loved ones and should be happy to come here,” said Activity Director of Marquette County Medical Care Facility, Tina Koski.
The Family Fun Day was also their way of giving a nod to National Night Out. National night out is a community building campaign that enhances the relationship between the community and local law enforcement. Every first Tuesday of August, thousands of communities from all fifty states celebrate the day by having a block party, cookout, or festival. It is meant to be an opportunity to bring police and the community together under positive circumstances.
