Trial proceedings underway for attempted murder suspect

MARQUETTE — A five-day jury trial to decide the fate of a Forsyth Township man charged with five felony counts, including attempted murder, began Monday in Marquette with jury selection.

Steven Devalle, 42, is accused of assaulting a woman and preventing her from calling 911 last July at her residence in Forsyth Township. At a previous court hearing, the victim testified Devalle was acting strange the night of the alleged crimes.

The victim added he became violent, choking her with one and two hands. Devalle eventually fled the residence.

Police arrested him the next day at OSF St. Francis after he crashed his car on US-41.
