MARQUETTE– Monday afternoon Eagle Mine hosted a community forum in Marquette to discuss the Eagle East Project.

The topic of the meeting was the undergoing expansion, Eagle Mine is investing one hundred-million dollars into the Eagle East Project. The Project includes a new decline tunnel to access a new ore body.

According to External Affairs manager Matt Johnson this will lengthen the life of the mine and create jobs.

“It’s an opportunity to really give the community an update of what’s happening at Eagle Mine,” Johnson said. “Also for us to understand if there are any questions in the community about our operations. If there is anyone interested on learning more about Eagle Mine and didn’t have an opportunity to attend one of our forums, we do have public tours that are starting in June, those tours are every Friday.”

Eagle Mine hosts forums every six months. Johnson said the Mine has an open door policy, always willing to answer community questions. The final forum is scheduled for Tuesday night at the Thunder Bay Inn in Big Bay.
