Male Chorus performs Gershwin Showcase

MARUQETTE– Friday night kicks off the premiere of the Marquette Male Chorus Spring Concert.

The production called A Gershwin Showcase will be held at 7:30 p.m. at the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Marquette. One of the special guest performances will be a local Soprano.

According to performer Michael Reed one of the most popular Gershwin songs is Porgy and Bess.

“If you don’t know anything about Gershwin, George and Ira Gershwin are arguably some of the biggest contributors to the Americana song book,” Performer Michael Reed said. “There’s so many plays, so many things that they have done and so we’re just doing a sampling of those tonight. We’re going quite a number of pieces that will get you up and moving and bring a tear to your eye.”

Tickets are $8 for adults, $5 for seniors and kids under 12.
The chorus director Wayne Hamner, has been awarded the Arts Education award this year by the Marquette Counsel.
