Local high school 1 of 2 with perfect graduation last year

NEGAUNEE– One local high school is celebrating a huge success for their graduating senior class.

Every single senior graduated from Negaunee High School last year.

According to an article on MLive, the school was one of two in Michigan that had over 75 students to have 100 percent graduation rate for this year.

Superintendent of Negaunee Schools, Dan Skewis, says this is a very rare achievement and he credits the administration, staff and students for the accomplishment.

“Negaunee is unique in the fact that we have very strong families and community support and they emphasize education to their students,” Skewis said. “We had a really nice senior class, I remember as a middle school principal having those same students when they were in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade it was just an enjoyable group.”

Skewis added “it doesn’t surprise me that we had a 100 percent graduation rate with that particular class, but it is very humbling.”

Negaunee Public school was the only U.P. public school to make the M–Live list of public schools with high graduation rates. International Academy in Oakland County Michigan also had a 100 percent graduation rate.
