UPDATE: Names released in fatal accident

The Delta County Sheriff’s Office has released the names of the two people killed in a two-vehicle accident Saturday morning in Ford River Township.
Gerald Grenfell, 84, and Rose Grenfell, 80, were both killed in the accident.

FORD RIVER TOWNSHIP — Two people were killed in a two-vehicle accident Saturday morning in Delta County.
Just before 10:00 a.m., the Delta County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the intersection of US-2/41 and I Road near Hyde for a two-vehicle accident with entrapment. A vehicle driven by an 84-year-old man pulled onto US-2/41 and right into the path of a westbound vehicle.
The 84-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in the man’s vehicle, an 80-year-old woman, was flown to UP Health System – Marquette, where she succumbed to her injuries.
The driver of the westbound vehicle was treated and released at the scene. Alcohol and speed are not believed to be factors in the accident, which remains under investigation at this time.
Names of those involved in the accident are currently not available.
