UPDATE: Missing teenager located by authorities

UPDATE — Tuesday, March 21st, 2017 10:20 a.m.

A missing 16-year-old downstate Michigan girl has been located by authorities in Iowa.

Joy Dene Martin was found on the campus of Iowa State University Monday night. She was found in good health.

According to police, Martin voluntarily left her home in Fennville, Mich. sometime Saturday. She befriended an individual on the social media app called KIK.

Arrangements have been made for Joy to reconnect with her family. The incident remains under investigation.


WAYLAND, MICH. — The Michigan State Police Wayland Post has issued an Endangered Missing Advisory for 16-year-old girl.

Joy Dene Martin was last seen in Saugatuck in downstate Allegan County. According to police, Joy left home voluntarily after communicating with an unknown person on the KIK messenger app. She may have left the state on a Greyhound bus.

Joy is 5’6″, 180 lbs. with blonde hair and blue eyes. She has a diamond stud nose piercing.
