Improper lane use leads to accident; three people injured

MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP– A three vehicle crash Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. sent three people to the hospital with minor injuries.

According to the Marquette County Sheriff’s Office, a 2000 Chevrolet pick-up truck driven by Ashley McIntire, 18, of Marquette merged into the inside lane while traveling West on US-41 near Wright Street. While merging, a 1996 Lincoln Town car, driven by William Oconnor, 65, of Ishpeming was then forced to take evasive action, and struck a 2014 Subaru driven by Christina Knepp, 24, of Sault Ste. Marie.

Two passengers along with Knepp were transported by to UP Health System – Marquette for the treatment of non-life threatening injuries. McIntire was cited for improper lane use.

The Marquette Township Fire Department and UP Health System – EMS assisted on the scene.
