MC Sports files for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy

GRAND RAPIDS, MICH. — A popular Michigan based sporting goods store has filed for bankruptcy.

Michigan Sporting Goods Distributors, Inc., also known as MC Sports, filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy in federal court Tuesday. MC Sports owns and operates 68 stores in 7 states in the Midwest.

The only MC Sports store in the Upper Peninsula is at the Westwood Mall in Marquette Township. Management at the store declined to comment to ABC 10 about the bankruptcy situation.

According to court records, the company will begin an orderly liquidation of all of its stores. The company says it has been impacted by online resellers and changing consumer preferences, which led to them filing for bankruptcy.
