Jaws of Life used at two-vehicle accident

FORD RIVER TOWNSHIP — A two-vehicle accident Sunday night in Delta County sent two people to the hospital.

The accident happened just before 11:00 p.m. on US-2 near the Highland Golf Club in Ford River Township. An eastbound vehicle being driven by a 54-year-old Escanaba woman crossed the centerline and struck a westbound vehicle.

The impact caused the eastbound vehicle to overturn and hit several trees. Authorities used the Jaws of Life to remove the woman out of the vehicle.

She was transported to OSF and later to UP Health System – Marquette. The driver of the westbound vehicle, 21-year-old Bark River man, was treated and released at OSF.

The accident remains under investigation.
