ISHPEMING TOWNSHIP — Members of the Project Empire state response team will be hearing from the community on Thursday.

A town hall meeting will be held at Westwood High School in Ishpeming Township to discuss Project Empire, which is an initiative that hopes to bring technical assistance and help local leaders take advantage of state and federal programs to address challenges brought on by the indefinite idle of the Empire Mine. Representatives from state agencies like the Michigan Department of Talent and Economic Development will be in attendance at the town hall, which runs from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Governor Rick Snyder announced the formation of Project Empire in conjunction with several local leaders back in August.
