MARQUETTE — The Marquette Food Co-op is holding a variety of free cooking classes for any kind of cook with any kind of experience.

Starting in the month of October and running until May, the co-op will be offering a number of free classes to anyone in the public, even if you’re not a member. These classes make a plethora of delicious meals with a new theme each night.

While many classes offered by the food co-op come with a cost, a grant has allowed them to make these free classes available.

“We realize though that people don’t want to spend the money if they don’t know what they’re getting into and so we actually have funds from the Michigan Department of Agriculture to put on a series of free classes through a specialty crop block grant,” said Marquette Food Co-op Educator Coordinator, Sarah Monte.

Although these classes are tailored to meet any experience level, individual classes are also offered.

“We also offer private classes so if someone really wants to learn a particular skill and they want to get a group of friends together, they can contact me and we can tailor a class to fit their needs, whether that is a topic or a budget,” said Monte.
