New phone scam going around

GWINN– There may be a new phone scam going around, so make sure to be cautious on the phone.

The Forsyth Township Police Department say many people have complained about getting phone calls trying to collect debt or personal information.

The callers claim to be representatives of the Treasury Department or IRS and threaten legal action if you do not call a given number immediately.

The Forsyth Township Police Department does not conduct investigations of behalf of either the Treasury Department or the IRS and warn never give personal information over the phone to someone suspicious.
