MARQUETTE– Even though Grace United Methodist Church was closed down this year, the building is being renovated in hopes of creating a new place of worship and gathering with a focus on having a welcoming atmosphere.

The Marquette Hope’s Connection Center is under renovation and will be having it’s Grand Opening this September eleventh.
The center will host not only worship services, but also has rooms for university students, families, meetings and concerts.
Pastors of the church say they want the building to feel welcoming to people on all days of the week and that a lot of work went into renovating it.

They also say the work was worth it. “We are so blessed and pleased and excited and humbled to be part of these projects, said co-pastor Rev. Kristi Hintz. Rev. Hintz described the project as, “a labor of love and a vision of our entire community.”

The Connection Center was created by members of both the Skandia and First United Methodist churches. The project was funded by a grant from the Detroit Annual Conference of United Methodist Churches.
