HOUGHTON COUNTY — A drug case against a Hancock man may go to trial.

29-year-old Andrew Rohrer was reportedly the victim of an attack by 27-year-old Joseph Schreiber who was sentenced to one year in jail for charges stemming from the June incident. Police said the attack happened during an alleged deal for marijuana.

Rohrer is said to be a certified marijuana provider but was not licensed to sell to Schreiber. He was therefore charged with Delivery or Manufacture of the drug a felony punishable by up to four years in prison.

His attorney said they’ve been unable to come to a suitable agreement and therefore requested the case be scheduled for trial. Plea negotiations are expected to continue in the meantime. Another pretrial will be held prior to the trial date.
