MARQUETTE — A stranded swimmer was rescued by police Sunday morning in the City of Marquette.

Just after 11:30 a.m., the Marquette City Fire Department was dispatched to the area of Lighthouse Point. Two swimmers playing in the surf near the rockface could not get back to shore.

One of the swimmers was able to safely get back to shore on his own. The other swimmer was stranded on a rock.

A swimmer with the Marquette City Fire Department was able to get to the stranded swimmer and guide him back to shore with a lifejacket and a tag line.

No one was seriously hurt in the incident. The U.S. Coast Guard and the Marquette City Police Department assisted at the scene.
