Famous statue visits local cathedral

MARQUETTE– Saint Peter Cathedral in Marquette has a very special visitor today, and she’s bring some people to church.

The Pilgrim Virgin Statue of Our Lady of Fatima making an appearance at Saint Peter Cathedral today. The statue is traveling across the country and making stops at over one hundred dioceses to spread its message of peace.

On its journey the statue will host talks, benedictions and Masses.

The World Apostolate of Fatima, who maintains the statue, says their goal is to bring an urgent message of peace from heaven, which they say is much needed in these times.

A custodian of the statue said, “It’s extremely important a lot of people are well aware of the need of peace in our world where we see it’s effects everywhere, terrorism, the lack of peace in peoples hearts.”

“It’s a wonderful opportunity to just foster our continued devotion and to his blessed mother and to help us be intercessors for peace in our world,” said Pastor Michael Steber.

The statue made its appearance at the cathedral this afternoon, which was followed by Mass and a rosary prayer.

There is still time if you want to catch the statue. The cathedral will be hosting an all night adoration until 8 A.M. tomorrow morning.
