IRONWOOD — Public safety officers and volunteer firemen worked together last night to quickly contain a fire in Ironwood.

Officers from Ironwood Public Safety say they were dispatched to a structure fire on the 100 block of West Gogebic Street around midnight.

They arrived to find the upstairs was full of smoke and flames located inside one of the walls. The fire was under control in just 20 minutes.

A female occupant of the home was able to safely exit the house. The house did receive moderate damage.

The cause of the fire if being investigated but officers say the origin was in a marijuana grow room and appears to have been electrical in nature.
