Public Safety diffuses human traffic concern
ESCANABA — Concern raised by a private Facebook post regarding a possible human trafficking situation in Escanaba has been diffused by Public Safety.
On Saturday, Escanaba Public Safety was contacted by a concerned citizen who thought they were being followed by an older male.
The subject did not make any physical or verbal contact nor was there evidence to suggest an attempted abduction. Officers say they are attempting to contact the man in question in hopes of clearing up the situation.
The department cautions against the use of private social media postings without validating the content, as such posts may have misguided information. At times, unnecessary panic can arise from miscommunication.
Escanaba Public Safety officers want to remind citizens that they cannot manage postings on private accounts.
