Fatal traffic incident involving motorcycle
HOUGHTON — A fatal traffic crash occurred just hours ago in Chassell Township.
At about 3:30 p.m., a vehicle was stopped at US-41 waiting to make a left turn onto Portage Entry Road when it was struck from the rear by a motorcycle. The female driver of the motorcycle was pronounced dead at the scene. She was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. The female driver of the vehicle sought her own treatment for minor injuries.
Troopers from the Michigan State Police Calumet Post are investigating the accident. They were assisted on scene by the Houghton County Sheriff Department, Mercy Ambulance, Chassell First Responders, Chassell Fire Department, and Superior Towing.
