New shop brings sweet treat to the U.P.
NEGAUNEE — With summer heating up in the U P, there is a new place to cool off with a sweet treat. Buster’s Ice Cream just opened three days ago and is already seeing some customers.
Named after the co–owner’s ice–cream loving dad, the shop is located in downtown Negaunee by the Iron Ore Heritage Trail.
The owners hope the shop will bring families down to the nearby park. So far, they say the community has loved it.
“We’ve had an overwhelming response; everyone is so thrilled to have an ice–cream shop in the city of Negaunee,” said co–owner Kathy Tresseder.
“The park we have here in Negaunee at the heritage trail is doing a lot and I think having an ice cream shop right here is a good destination for them,” said co–owner Gary Tresseder.
The shop’s brand new freezer keeps the ice cream at an easy–scooping five degrees. Buster’s Ice Cream has also given a first–time job opportunity to five local teenagers.
In addition to human ice cream, the Tresedders (Tree–set–ers) plan on selling ice cream for canine companions who stop by Buster’s with their owners.
