L’ANSE — It’s time again for Baraga County residents to spend a healthy day outside while raising money for a good cause.

The Baraga County Community Foundation is hosting the 2016 Denise Marth Memorial Family Fun Run, Walk, and Roll this weekend in L’Anse. The annual event honors the memory of a community member who worked hard to promote holistic health and well-being.

“She made such an impact on the lives of the residents of Baraga County and its surrounding counties that we did not want her work or her passion or her love for our residents to be forgotten,” said Gordette Coté Leutz, Executive Director of the Baraga County Community Foundation.

Funds raised at the event help cover operating costs for the Community Foundation so that it can in turn help numerous programs in the area — many of those focused on youth. The 5K isn’t just for runners or walkers.

“They can push strollers. They can ride bikes. They can roller blade. They can walk. They can run, and they can skateboard,” Leutz added.

Registration kicks off at the Whirl–I–Gig at 8:30 a.m. Saturday. It’s $5 per person to participate. Click here to find out more about the event. You can also follow the Baraga County Community Foundation on Facebook.
