Michigan unemployment rate lowest in fifteen years

LANSING — Governor Snyder announced today that Michigan’s unemployment rate has fallen to 4.7 percent.

This is the lowest point in the past fifteen years. The drop is also a drastic change, from 2009 when Michigan had the highest unemployment rate in the nation at fourteen-point-nine percent.

Michigan has seen the largest unemployment decrease in the county. After receiving a positive jobs report, Snyder believes the drop will continue to decrease with the improvement of education in Detroit.
