UPDATE: Four people injured in accident involving patrol car

UPDATE — 8:30 am Saturday, June 11, 2016 (EDT)

Police have released additional information about a three-vehicle accident that occurred Friday night in Marquette Township.

At approximately 8:45 p.m., a Marquette County Sheriff’s Deputy was responding to a call for service. The deputy’s car had its lights flashing and sirens going.

The accident happened at the intersection of US-41 and County Road HQ in front of Walmart. Four people were injured in the accident. Three of them were taken to UP Health System – Marquette for treatment of their injuries.

All three vehicles were towed from the scene. Two Michigan State Police troopers trained in advanced accident investigation were called to the scene to investigate the accident.

That investigation is ongoing and police will release further information at a later time.


MARQUETTE — At least three people are injured and taken to the hospital after a multi-vehicle collision involving a Marquette County Sheriff’s vehicle. The accident occured at the intersection by Walmart and Target on US-41 in Marquette.

Before 9:00 p.m. Friday, crews responded to the scene. Two vehicles, one red and one black, both had significant damage and were seen in the highway median. The Marquette County Sheriff’s vehicle had front-end damage.

ABC 10 was live on scene immediately following the crash.

The intersection was blocked off as crews conducted an investigation and cleaned up the scene. Firefighters from Marquette Township were cleaning up debris on the highway as traffic was rerouted from area just before the traffic signals.

Michigan State Police, Marquette County Sheriff’s Department, Marquette City Police and Marquette Township Fire Department all responded.

At least one individual was taken by ambulance to Upper Peninsula Health Systems – Marquette. The status on the victims is not known at this time.
