Motor vessel freed from reef

BAY MILLS — The motor vessel Roger Blough is free from the reef it got caught on over a week ago.

The U.S. Coast Guard says the Roger Blough was able to make it to Waiska Bay under its own power on Saturday afternoon.

Lightering operations concluded Saturday morning and the vessel was afloat by 11 a.m.

It is currently being evaluated for repairs at the Bay, which is closed off to vessels not part of the operation.

The rescue came about after the Blough ran aground on Gros Cap Reef in Whitefish Bay back on May 27th.
