Man taken into protective custody without incident
KINGSFORD — A man was taken into protective custody after a brief incident in the Kingsford Heights area Sunday evening.
Kingsford Public Safety officers say they were dispatched to the report of a suicidal 22-year-old man who was inside his residence with a loaded rifle and handgun around 7:00 p.m. Contact was made with the man and after a short period of time, he agreed to come out of the house unarmed. He was taken into custody without incident.
Police say he was taken to Dickinson County Healthcare System for evaluation. Alcohol was a factor in the incident. The man was the only person in the residence at the time. No criminal charges are pending at this time.
Kingsford Public Safety was assisted at the scene by the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office.
