'Man Enough?' campaign targets $10 cat buyers

MARQUETTE — It’s ‘adopt a shelter cat month,’ but are you man enough? That’s what the Upper Peninsula Animal Welfare Shelter wants to find out.

Throughout the month of June, any cat that is over six months old can be adopted for only $10. That includes their spaying or neutering, vaccines, microchip and a lot of love.

During the event, UPAWS is focusing on approaching men to find a new cat friend.

“They say men don’t like cats, well that’s not true,” said UPAWS Community Outreach Coordinator Ann Brownell, “we know better than that. We’ve got senior cats, young cats, middle–aged cats, beautiful Snowball, a beautiful white kitty, Cole and Phoebe, they’ve been here a long time. We’ve gotten some transfers in, we helped another shelter downstate who had an abundance of cats so we reached out.”

The promotion runs all month long and includes cats at UPAWS, the Petsmart Adoption Center and cats in foster care. With Father’s Day and June being ‘adopt a shelter cat’ month Brownell added it’s the perfect time to bring home a furry friend.
